Experience
An occasional contributor to the Daily Press,
Sharon is a former reporter for
the Sussex-Surry Dispatch (2003-2005), where she produced three to five stories
per
week in addition to serving as a copy editor. At that time the
Dispatch was a subsidiary of the Press.
Before that, she free-lanced for the Madison Times
(Wisconsin), a weekly community newspaper, where she averaged three
published stories per week (1995-1999). At both the Madison Times
and Sussex-Surry Dispatch, Sharon provided photographs to accompany her
stories.
Her other work during that period included projects
for the Virginia Eagles (Va Aeronautical
Historical Society), AutoPilot (mid-Atlantic
region), Mature
Lifestyles (Dane County, WI and surrounding area), Midwest Flyer
Magazine, Wisconsin Woman Magazine and other assignments including
brochures and flyers.
Sharon's writing and reporting skills were honed by more than three years as copy editor for
the Environmental and Natural Resources Policy and Training (EPAT) project, coordinated by the University of Wisconsin
International Agricultural Program and sponsored by U.S. Aid for
International Development. There from 1992 to 1994, she and her team edited and published
research papers on sustainable agriculture, economic and
environmental practices for developing country policymakers. More
than 70 developing countries benefited from this effort. The project
ended when USAID experienced severe budget cuts.
Current Projects
Sharon currently is writing her first novel, the working title of
which is Lost and Found Love, a light-hearted look at love for
a couple in their 60s who meet through the lost and found ads. She
is also working on a mystery and a memoir to let abused women know
they have a way out of their situation.
Sharon holds a BA in Professional Communication (Alverno College in
Wisconsin), is a Certified Reiki Master Practitioner and
Teacher, and is working toward certification as a Transfigura-Regeneration
practitioner. She lives in Williamsburg, Virginia.
