Thomas’s "Soldier of the Legion" science fiction series (genre military SF) is a six-book action-adventure set in the far future with a wide cast of characters facing suicidal missions against merciless, all-powerful enemies as humanity is poised on the brink of extinction. The characters are not superheroes or one-dimensional cardboard caricatures, but normal people facing extraordinary challenges, and they each grow and change throughout the series as they experience traumatic, life-changing events. Soldier of the Legion was published in 2002, The Black March in 2007, Slave of the Legion in 2008 and Secret of the Legion in 2009, Cross of the Legion in October 2009 and Curse of the Legion in 2010. Click the Titles for more information, including chapter excerpts, purchase options and reviews. The first book of the series went through the traditional path to publication with its plethora of rejections before being accepted by Timberwolf Press of Allen, Texas. When Timberwolf went out of business in 2007, Marshall self-published the next three books with BookLocker, which he recommends without qualification. Book 5 is published by Ridan Press, a new small press which has impressed Marshall with both high quality and low pricing. "The only problem is generating publicity for the series and that task never ends." Marshall now sells the Soldier series on line through both BookLocker and Ridan. Cross of the Legion, the fifth book of the series, continues the adventures of Squad Beta, Second of the Ship, 12th of the 22nd , ConFree Legion, serving the people of the Confederation of Free Worlds. Book six, the last book in the series, Curse of the Legion, was released in 2010. Buy the first book of the series, Soldier of the Legion, as an audiobook.
